Welcome to Melana Dance

I would firstly like to introduce myself, my name is Louisa Chandler and I am the Principal of Melana Dance.

2015 sees Melana Dance celebrate forty years of teaching. The schools founder Mrs Jenny Clark still plays a very dedicated, active part in the schools well being and the achievements of its pupils.

I myself was bought up through the school and had assisted Mrs Clark for many years. It was my great delight to be able to take over the role of Principal in 2005.

Classes are held at Emsworth Community Centre, North Street, Emsworth PO10 7DD.

Classes

Melana Dance offers classes in Ballet, Tap,  Modern Stage Dance and our brand new Contemporary Classes. We follow the National Association of Teachers of Dance syllabus and examinations are taken through this board. www.natd.org.co.uk

Melana Dance also run a number of Parent and Toddler Groups and Pre-School Dance Classes through our Melody Bear Dance & Movement Classes. www.melodymovement.co.uk

Exams

Pupils are invited to take exams, giving them a sense of accomplishment and to prove their progression in learning and ability.

Exams can be taken from Beginner levels through the Grades to Intermediate Levels and then on to Associate and Teaching qualifications.

Performances

The School loves to pull together to produce some fantastic pieces of work to show on the stage, giving the students an unforgettable performance experience.

Previous performances have been performed at The Minerva Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre, The Portsmouth Guildhall & The Kings Theatre in Southsea.

We celebrated forty years of Melana Dance, with a Gala Performance at The Portsmouth Guildhall on Wednesday 28th October 2015.
